Chesterton Square in downtown Ponchatoula was named in honor of G.K. Chesterton, the most quoted writer of the twentieth century. Chesterton’s extraordinary insights written in his engaging literary style provoke readers to appreciate the wonders of daily life and to consider the essence of our Creator in every facet of our being. Prominently displayed in front of Chesterton Square is the only life-sized bronze statue of this gifted writer which welcomes every guest to the Northshore's most unique special event facility. Called the “Apostle of Common Sense” by Dale Ahlquist, president of the American Chesterton Society, G. K. Chesterton, through his various books, poems, essays, and commentaries, continues to captivate and inspire generations to “celebrate life!"
